Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: May 27, 2026
In plain language
Some of the links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one of those links and then buy something, the company that made the sale may pay Mycology Minded a small commission. You pay nothing extra. The price you see is the same price you would have paid going to the company directly.
We disclose this because the Federal Trade Commission requires it (16 CFR Part 255), and because we think you deserve to know what's actually going on.
What is affiliate marketing?
Affiliate marketing is how a lot of independent content publishers — including this one — fund the work. When you click a link from our site to a partner company (a mushroom supplement brand, a grow-kit retailer, a book publisher, etc.) and complete a purchase, that company knows the sale came from us and pays us a percentage. The commission usually ranges from 5% to 20% of the sale price.
That percentage funds the research, writing, testing, and editing that goes into every article on this site. Affiliate revenue is what lets us keep the site free to read without putting our content behind a paywall or running banner ads.
Which programs Mycology Minded participates in
We disclose affiliate relationships with the following companies and networks. This list is not exhaustive and may be updated as we add or remove partnerships:
- Real Mushrooms — fruiting body extract supplements
- North Spore — cultivation supplies, grow kits, agar
- FreshCap — functional mushroom supplements
- Amazon Associates — books, lab equipment, miscellaneous referrals
- FlexOffers, ShareASale, Impact — affiliate networks aggregating multiple supplement and wellness brands
- Rythmia — psilocybin-adjacent retreat referrals (where applicable, with significant journalistic context)
When you see an outbound link to one of these brands on our site, assume it is an affiliate link unless we explicitly note otherwise.
How we choose what to recommend
This is the part that matters most.
Affiliate compensation does not influence our editorial opinion. We recommend products we have researched, tested where possible, and believe represent genuine value to our readers. We say so clearly when a product does not meet our standards — including products from brands we are affiliated with. Our reviews include criticism. Our comparison articles will tell you when a competitor's product is better. Our cultivation guides will recommend equipment from non-affiliate sources when the non-affiliate option is the right answer.
We will never:
- Recommend a product solely because it pays a higher commission
- Hide negative information about a partner brand to protect a referral relationship
- Accept payment to publish a favorable review (paid placement is not affiliate marketing and is not something we engage in)
- Manufacture urgency, scarcity, or "limited-time" framing to drive affiliate clicks
If you ever read a piece of our content and feel the recommendation does not match the evidence, please email us at [email protected]. We take that seriously.
How to identify affiliate links on this site
Every page that contains affiliate links includes a short disclosure block at the top, reading:
This post contains affiliate links. If you purchase through these links, Mycology Minded may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. We only recommend products we've researched and believe in.
You can also assume any outbound link from a product comparison, supplement review, or grow-kit recommendation is an affiliate link unless the article specifically notes that the product is not part of any affiliate program.
A note on psilocybin-related content
Mycology Minded covers psilocybin policy, harm reduction, and research as part of our editorial mission. We do not, and will not, accept affiliate revenue for any product or service involving the sale, cultivation, or consumption of psilocybin or other controlled substances. Articles in this category are funded entirely by affiliate revenue from the supplement, cultivation, and book categories above.
