Privacy

Mycology Minded ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

Data we collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Email address when you subscribe to the newsletter or contact us through the form.
  • Name when you submit the contact form (optional but encouraged).
  • Any content of messages you send us.

Information collected automatically:

  • Basic analytics — pages visited, referring source, browser, country (city-level at most). We use a privacy-respecting analytics setup (Cloudflare Web Analytics or similar) that does not set tracking cookies and does not build cross-site profiles.
  • Server logs — IP address, request timestamp, user agent — retained for 30 days for security and abuse prevention.

Information we do not collect:

  • We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any cross-site advertising trackers.
  • We do not sell or share email addresses with third parties.
  • We do not build behavioral profiles of readers.

How we use your data

  • Email — to send the newsletter you subscribed to and to respond to contact form submissions. Newsletter delivery is handled by Beehiiv (see their privacy policy at beehiiv.com/privacy).
  • Analytics — to understand which articles readers find useful so we can publish more of what works.
  • Server logs — to detect and respond to security incidents.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you. Email [email protected].
  • Correct any inaccurate data.
  • Delete your data — including unsubscribing from the newsletter at any time (one-click link in every email) and requesting deletion of any contact form submissions.
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Object to processing for direct marketing.

California residents have additional rights under CCPA/CPRA. EU/UK residents have additional rights under GDPR. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We respond within 30 days.

Children

Mycology Minded is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has submitted information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

Material changes will be announced at the top of this page and in the newsletter. The "Last updated" date at the top of this document reflects the most recent revision.

Cookies

Mycology Minded uses cookies sparingly.

  • Strictly necessary cookies: Used for site security, form submission validation (CSRF tokens), and remembering whether you've dismissed the cookie banner. These cannot be disabled.
  • Functional cookies: Used to remember preferences you've set (e.g., light/dark reading mode if implemented). You can disable these in your browser settings.
  • Analytics cookies: None at present. Our analytics setup is cookieless.
  • Advertising cookies: None at present. We do not run display ads.
